Ballgown Part One...

One of my final projects in finishing school is a class called, "Ballgown" where you have 30 days to complete a dress of Terry's choosing (the owner and director of NYFA). I designed 3 gowns and presented them to her. Here they are:

aaand...she picked this one! A sheer hoopskirt with black and white polka dots over a strapless corseted underdress with a cape (with sleeves, braided armscye, ruched back and black velvet bow trail. As Joey Lawrence via Blossom (and several syndicated tv shows later) would say, "WhOAH!"
Spec sheets and portfolio. Watercolored, mod podged, rhinestoned and hot glued front.

I started one week ago (Wednesday) and have been progressing! Here's the muslin (to try out my pattern I made) It's outta Duck Cloth (heavy weight, like corset coutil).

Merry Widow corseted bodice pieces..
draping...

my workspace...
fabric...
with hoop crinoline underneath!
stitching on from back to front
final cup fit! yyaahhooo! It will be quilted on finished garment though.

that's it for now. More updates soon!
